Useless Copyright Protection Declaration Posted by Facebook Users
There is lot of personal data that social media users place online. They are not forced to do so, but just because it makes it more interesting and makes them look more real online, they do it from their free will. But is the information you share online really protected. It does not matter if you post it directly to Facebook or post it through Mylife.com. At the end of the day as long as the data is posted on Facebook, the data policy of Facebook will be the one that really matters.
In reality, whatever people share on Facebook would remain protected under the current copyright laws. But Facebook has clearly mentioned in the user agreements that anything and everything posted to Facebook can be used by Facebook, as required by the company. So people who are too worried about their data on Facebook or for that matter on any social media site, should either not share it or should just altogether stop using these sites.
It is funny that even people who are so agitated by the data policy of Facebook have been monitored by the websites they visit for years. These websites collect the information of your clicks and add cookies to your computer. Even though most websites have mentioned regarding the data they store in their user agreement, you don’t have to click on anything to agree to it. The fact that you are using the website itself means that you have agreed to their agreement. But now because everybody is talking about the data policy of Facebook, it seems like everyone wants to protect their data. The fact that so many websites track the way you use the internet can be easily proven by the fact that the ads yousee on various websites are of things that you were recently searching for. This way it makes you more likely to click an ad.
